In order to strengthen the dynamic stability monitoring and analysis abilities of the power system, it is required to install the phasor measurement units (PMU) in the important substations and power plants, and build the wide area measurement system (WAMS). The phasor data concentrator (PDC) receives the synchrophasor data from PMUs, align the data with timestamps and output the concentrated data to the upper-level PDC or control center. PCS-996S-G is a substation PDC developed according to IEEE C37.118 standard. PCS-996S-G is usually used to concentrate synchrophasor data from multiple PMUs or IEDs which have integrated PMU function.
