Recently, NR successfully won the bid for Mongolia's first photovoltaic (PV) energy storage microgrid project, providing containerized energy storage PCS solution to help Mongolia expand the application of renewable energy. In Mongolia, the power supply mainly depends on coal-fired power generation and electricity import. Mongolia is gradually expanding the application of clean energy power generation to gradually reduce electricity import and greenhouse gas emissions.
At the same time, Mongolia also through the construction of advanced energy storage system, in order to ensure the power security and stability of clean energy expanding application scale. Mongolia, with huge renewable resources, is becoming an important market for energy storage and Microgrid applications.
The first PV storage microgrid project in Mongolia is located in Uliastai, Mongolia. It is funded by ADB and belongs to the Ministry of energy of Mongolia. It is composed of 5MW photovoltaic and 3.6MWh energy storage system. The integrated solutions provided by NR include containerized system design, equipment supply and remote training services.
The containerized battery energy storage PCS solution includes the power conversion system, step-up transformer and protection control system, grid connected switchgear and other equipment, with a variety of automatic control operation modes such as frequency modulation, voltage regulation, peak shaving and valley filling, and black start.
The power conversion system, energy storage system controller and energy management system developed by NR have been successfully applied in global energy storage markets such as Japan, India, Ethiopia, Thailand, Switzerland and Philippines.
