On August 20, 2020, the 150kV Sulut-3 substation and the 150kV Tanjung Merah extension station in North Sumar, Indonesia which were constructed by NR, were successfully put into operation.
This project is an important part of Indonesia's plan to solve the power shortage of outer islands. The successful operation of the project will solve the current situation of power shortage in North Sulawesi province. As the EPC general contractor, NR provides overall solutions for the project of North region, and is responsible for all work except civil construction, including the whole station survey, design, procurement, installation and commissioning. This project is the first EPC project of NR in North Sulawesi province of Indonesia.
NR project team changed the approved high-voltage buried cable scheme to overhead line scheme, which not only saved the project budget for users, but also shortened the project duration. With more than ten years of solid market development and technology accumulation in Indonesia, NR has provided technical consultation, external communication and coordination for the owner in the whole process, which has been highly recognized by the owner.
In the implementation phase of the project, facing the adverse impact of epidemic and the tense project schedule, the project team joined hands with all parties to grasp the epidemic prevention & control and ensure the progress of the project. With a pragmatic attitude and exquisite skills, the project team overcame various difficulties in the project implementation, effectively ensured the final smooth acceptance and operation of the project, also highly praised from the local power grid company.
The successful operation of the project in Indonesia has further improved the brand recognition of NR as an equipment supplier and EPC contractor in local power grid companies, contributing to the market development of NR in Indonesia and laying a foundation for undertaking more EPC projects in the future.
