On June 29, 2020, the first batch of Wudongde giant Hydropower Station, successfully completed 72 hour trial and officially put into operation for power generation and commercial use.
Wudongde Hydropower Station is located at the junction of Yunnan Province and Sichuan Province, which is the first of the four cascades in the lower reaches of Jinsha River. It plans to install 12 sets of water turbine generating units with a single unit capacity of 850MW, with a total installed capacity of 10.2 GW. It is the fourth largest hydropower station in China and the seventh largest in the world, and is also a national major project that can be called the backbone power source of "West to East power transmission".
NR is chosen to provide Wudongde Hydropower Station with generator transformer unit protection, safety and stability system, protection for switch station, and protection information management system. NR also provided high-voltage protection system, complete set of flexible DC converter valve equipment and core measurement equipment for the world's first UHV Hybrid DC project, Wudongde HVDC transmission project. From equipment development to production commissioning, and then to engineering support construction, NR has helped the smooth implementation of Wudongde Hydropower Station project with advanced technology, excellent products and professional services.
In Wudongde Hydropower project, NR provides a complete set of generator transformer units for all units. As the core of relay protection for large hydropower station units, PCS-985 series generator transformer unit protection device not only gives full play to the core technical advantages of large hydraulic turbine units, but also adopts new technologies such as GCB open phase protection technology, current unbalance protection and inter turn insulation detection, which can ensure the safe operation of the unit. At the same time, NR also provides a complete set of stability control system for Kunbei converter station, Liuzhou converter station, Longmen converter station, Wudongde Hydropower Station, Longkaikou Hydropower Station, Gudao discrimination information station and other power stations of the whole Wudongde Hybrid DC transmission project, providing a solid & reliable guarantee for the safe and stable operation of the whole Wudongde project.
