On July 17, 2024, the Chile Coordinador Electrico Nacional(CEN) formally approved the system test report and performance verification report of the 220kV S/E MAIPO substation ±200MVar STATCOM project. This large-capacity STATCOM project supplied by NR formally put into commercial operation.
NR supplied a complete set of STATCOM systems including valve, control and protection systems, water-cooling systems , related primary equipment, and also led the system study, seismic simulation, engineering design and system test for this project. All equipment supplied for the project has passed the Chile seismic certification and fully complies with the local NTSyCS seismic code. During the system test, the equipment performed well, and the performance verification test was successful. The stable product performance, flexible control strategy and smooth operation interface have left a deep impression on CEN users. The commissioning of this project will play a key role in the stability of the power grid in the capital Santiago.
