On April 28, 2024, the Yangzhou-Zhenjiang ±200kV DC Transmission Project (hereinafter referred to as "Yangzhen DC") was officially put into operation. It will take up the responsibility of large-scale renewable energy consumption across the river in the northern Jiangsu Province, effectively reduce the burden of the existing river crossing, and greatly enhance the north-south transmission capacity of electricity.
Yangzhen DC , with a line length of about 110km and a rated transmission capacity of 1,200MW, is the first "AC to DC conversions " project in China, which utilizes the existing Wufeng Mountain crossing of the Yangtze River to transform an AC transmission line into a DC transmission line for the first time. The successful implementation of the project has provided a solution for the power transmission engineering field to solve the problems of grid development, such as high demand for electricity, high saturation of the power grid, and limited right-of-ways for new line construction.

NR Electric has provided key equipments such as DC control and protection system, converter valve, converter valve cooling system, measurement system, stabilization control, AC protection, AC measurement and control, DC line fault location system for Yangzhen DC project.
In Yangzhen DC, NR Electric firstly proposed a restart strategy based on fault current control, which can maintain 50% of the transmission power during the fault period, significantly reducing the impact of DC line faults on the AC system and improving the restart success rate. This strategy has been successfully restarted in all 6 times DC line fault tests in the project site. At the same time, Yangzhen DC control and protection system also provides intelligent reminder of fault list, intelligent display of different types of keyword alarm events and fully automatic power control, which greatly improves the system operation and maintenance.

The valve cooling system provided by NR Electric is deeply integrated with the converter valve, and the valve cooling control and protection system adopts the same platform with the DC control and protection system to realize seamless connection, which greatly improves the system reliability and operation & maintenance efficiency.
