On September 30, 2022, the Fujian-Guangdong Interconnection Back to Back DC Transmission Project was formally completed and put into operation. NR has provided complete core equipment such as converter valve and valve cooling system, measuring system and stability control for the project.
The Fujian Guangdong Project is a major project of State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid Corporation to ensure the safe and reliable supply of electricity and help achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutralization. A new converter station is to be built in Mapu Township, Fujian Province. Two back-to-back LCC-HVDC units with rated voltage of ±100kV and rated capacity of 1000MW are to be built.
NR has designed a suspension back-to-back quadruple valve tower tailored for the Fujian Guangdong Networking Project. The structural innovation design has realized that all AC and DC bus interfaces of the quadruple valve tower are arranged on the same side of the valve tower, greatly simplifying the layout of the valve hall equipment. The valve cooling protection & control adopts the new generation UAPC3.0 platform, which has faster operation speed, higher reliability and smaller chassis size.
An AC electronic voltage transformer that can realize high-precision harmonic voltage measurement is developed, which has small measurement delay and high temperature stability, and effectively supports accurate harmonic control of active power filter. Aiming at the two-way flexible DC power transmission mode between Fujian and Guangdong, the AC section power loss protection device using adaptive fault criteria is developed to accurately identify faults, optimize the configuration of stability control system, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
The completion and operation of the Fujian Guangdong Interconnection Project, realized the interconnection of the power grids of Fujian and Guangdong, provided mutual backup and support in emergency situations, and improved the power grid supply guarantee capability under extreme conditions. It is the first time to realize the flexible interconnection between the State Grid and China Southern Power Grid through back-to-back DC, which promotes the optimal allocation of power resources in a wider range. At the same time, it has effectively improved the delivery capacity of clean energy in Fujian Province, and promoted the green and low-carbon development in southern China.
The smooth implementation of the Fujian Guangdong project has demonstrated the comprehensive strength of NR in the field of high-end electrical equipment. NR will strive to make greater contributions to global power system reliability.
