Sichuan 500kV Kangshu Series Compensation Project Successfully delivered and put into operation

On June 12, 2020, 500kV Kangshu project with two sets of 1000MVar Series Compensation (SC) supplied by NR, has successfully completed the artificial grounding short circuit test and delivered to the users for operation.

The 500kV Kangshu Series Compensation project is a key project of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). The project will meet the demand of surplus hydropower transmission, improve the security and stability level of power grid in Kanggan region, and realize the optimization of Southwest of China clean energy resources in a larger range. After the project is put into operation, the clean energy transmission capacity of Kangshu and Ganshu channels will be increased from 4800MW to 6300MW.

NR undertakes the integrated supply of 500kV Kangshu Series Compensation project. This year, under the COVID-19 pandemic situation, NR Electric strongly supports the resumption of production of major power projects. On the basis of strict implementation of the epidemic prevention & control measures, fully supports the construction of the Kang Shu series compensation project. The project team members actively overcome difficulties and settled in the project site at the first time to ensure the completion and delivery of the project on schedule, which has been highly appreciated by SGCC project team.

Till now, NR has put into operation of 26 sets of SC systems, which have been unanimously recognized by global customers. The successful delivery of 500kV Kangshu series compensation project marks new milestone of NR in the field of flexible AC transmission.  NR offers field proven FACTS solutions to solve reliability and efficiency problems in power system. The complete FACTS solution will help to increase transfer capacity and ensure quality of your next generation smart grid.
